Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo has been ranked the #1 golf course in the Caribbean and Central America for over two decades. Designed by Pete Dye in 1971, it features seven holes carved along the rocky Caribbean coastline — the most oceanfront holes of any course in the Western Hemisphere.
If it's on your bucket list, here's everything you need to know to plan the perfect round.

The Signature Holes
Teeth of the Dog has 18 memorable holes, but these are the ones you'll be talking about at dinner:
Course Strategy Tips
- Listen to your caddie. They play this course daily and know every wind pattern, slope, and hidden break. Trust their club selection — it will save you 3-5 strokes.
- Play the right tees. The tips are 7,471 yards with ocean wind. Unless you carry it 280+, play the blues (6,571) or whites (6,057). You'll have more fun.
- Morning rounds are better. Less wind, softer greens, and cooler temperatures. Book the earliest tee time you can.
- Bring extra balls. The ocean holes eat golf balls. Bring at least 6-8 more than you normally would.
- Stay hydrated. Caribbean heat sneaks up on you. The beverage cart comes around, but bring a water bottle.
- Take photos on 5, 7, and 16. Your caddie knows the best photo spots and will offer to take your picture. Say yes.
Green Fees & How to Book

Plan Your Golf Trip on WhatsAppWhat Else to Play
Most golf groups at Casa de Campo play all three courses over a 3-5 night stay:
Dye Fore (27 holes)
Pete Dye's second course at Casa de Campo features 27 holes with dramatic 300-foot cliff-top views over the Chavón River and the Caribbean. Three distinct nines (Marina, Chavón, and Lagos) offer variety and some of the most Instagram-worthy holes in golf. Green fees are slightly lower than Teeth of the Dog.
The Links (18 holes)
An inland links-style course opened in 2012. Open fairways, strategic bunkering, and a different challenge from the oceanfront courses. Great for a warm-up round on arrival day or a casual final round before you fly home.
